Formal Photos Shot List - Wedding Day

Formal Photos on the day of the wedding can be a bit stressful, however if you have a planned out list, it will make things much smoother! You won’t miss any specific shots you wanted either :) Here’s a guide to help you with that list. My suggestion is try to start with the biggest group first, which is usually both sides of the each family coming together. Then you can start to form smaller groups as the amount of people required decreases. Usually the best time to do this is right after the ceremony, unless you have a time slot before the ceremony to do these. This is when the most people are in one area.

Having one person in charge of getting the groups together and ensuring each group is crossed off is a great thing to have! Sometimes photographers don’t know the whole family by name, so a relative is often the best!

I have a link to a document that you can download and print off to get you started, and then you can customize from there. This is not an exhaustive list, as each wedding is usually different and people want different things. The downloadable list has more of the individual groups listed like; Bride with Mom, Bride with Dad, etc)

Bride and Groom + Both Families (Bride and Groom Side)

Bride and Groom + Parents (Bride Side)

Bride and Groom + Siblings (Bride Side)

Bride and Groom + Grand Parents (Bride Side)

Bride and Groom + Siblings/Parents/Grandparents (Brides Side)

Repeat the above for Groom’s Side. Remember, if you want to do individual photos like the Bride with just her family, or just the bride with mom, just the bride with dad, this is a good time to do it.
